When God Made You Review

About When God Made You
YOU, you… God thinks about you.
God was thinking of you long before your debut.

From early on, children are looking to discover their place in the world and longing to understand how their personalities, traits, and talents fit in. The assurance that they are deeply loved and a unique creation in our big universe is certain to help them spread their wings and fly.

Through playful, charming rhyme and vivid, fantastical illustrations, When God Made You inspires young readers to learn about their own special gifts and how they fit into God’s divine plan as they grow, explore, and begin to create for themselves.

‘Cause when God made YOU, somehow God knew
That the world needed someone exactly like you!

My personal review:

The illustrations for this book are stunning, first off. Love the colors and they represent all of the variety and individuality God has created in mankind. The message is affirming and my little people loved that. What was a little tricky, was holding their attention with the verbiage. It doesn’t read like a Dr. Suess that’s for sure. It was more like reading a tongue twister aloud. That’s why I didn’t absolutely l love this book. However, I’m of the opinion that the message inside is worth the oral gymnastics. Having said that, there was more than one request for a repeat of this book at snuggle time. Children love to love and be loved. This book is all about that. So I give it a big high-five for making little people feel special.

If every foster child got one of these in his or her belongings when placed in care and someone kindly sat them in their lap and read them this book, about how much God loves them and how He delights in them and the way He made them, it would make my heart happy. It might not solve world peace, but you have to start somewhere. I’d like to buy a case of these books for every social worker to give away to the kids on their case loads.

These books could be placed in medical offices, public libraries, hospitals and certainly school libraries. Really. Check it out more on the publisher’s website here. Watch the videos and read an excerpt.

I was give the opportunity to read and review this book for the publisher with a free copy in exchange for an unbiased written review.

I just happened to pick up my recent issue of Above Rubies tonight and saw your interesting article…and that you were local! Nice to meet you. Bless you for your love of children.
